Of the 65,890, 30-somethings who left the capital last year in search of better value housing, 64% moved into the South East and the East of England, according to the Land Registry. Home buyers exiting London to look for more affordable homes should look to Generator Group’s new development, The Bridge, in the popular city of Norwich. The capital of the East Anglia region offers impressive prospects for those looking to build up equity in their homes, with Zoopla recording house price rises of 5.73% during the last 12 months. Bidwell’s partner, Marc Langdon puts this down to the resurgence in property, infrastructure and career opportunities across the city and the wider region.

The once derelict car park area in Wherry Road is now transformed into a prime waterside location with far reaching views over the River Wensum. The Bridge comprises 66 one and two bedroom spacious apartments and penthouses, cleverly designed to maximise the natural light and tranquil setting. Many apartments are ready for occupation now, and also benefit from views of the historic heart of the city including Norwich cathedral and castle.

Langdon comments: “This is an exciting decade for Norwich and its long-term regeneration plan is exceptional.  What is happening in Norwich, mirrors what happened in Cambridge 10 years ago; the market is growing due to the university, research park and large companies, such as Aviva and Virgin Money, moving to the city. Infrastructure is also improving, with plans to make travelling to London even faster. There is definitely a youthful and vibrant feel about the place. Some time ago, you may have only found similar property schemes with block conversions. Now, there are new developments, like The Bridge offering forward-thinking architecture and better quality homes.”

There are currently 26 apartments and five penthouses left to purchase at The Bridge, which offers Mondrian architectural influences, outside space including private balconies, gardens and terraces, a communal podium garden and private secure parking.

Edward Orr, Director at Generator Group, comments: “At The Bridge, we have delivered an innovative, contemporary scheme providing generous living spaces and an exceptional finish at an affordable price for all types of buyers.

“We have seen great interest so far with many plots being sold off-plan. We urge anyone interested in investing in this up-and-coming city to visit our show home and see for themselves the quality of our homes.”

The interiors at The Bridge boast open-plan layouts and large windows that bathe the apartments in natural light, and feature luxury finishes including timber flooring, fitted carpets and individual designer bathrooms and kitchens.

The development is within walking distance to Norwich’s bustling city centre, offering everything required for 21st Century living, with some of the best shopping, entertainment, culture, cafes and restaurants in the region.  Norwich is an UNESCO City of Literature boasting museums, galleries and live music venues. For commuters Norwich Train Station is only a five-minute walk with trains into London Liverpool Street Station one hour and 50 minutes. Train operator Greater Anglia has set out a 10-point plan in order to improve connections to London in only 90 minutes. Both the Broads National Park and the Norfolk coast are also a short drive away, offering the best of both worlds.
