Financial Planner Jeff Larson Empowers Clients To Define Success and Achieve Their Goals
Published On :
The first step on the journey to personal or professional success is defining what the conditions for that success even are. Is success measured by exceeding some financial threshold? Is it marked instead by degrees of security and stability? Or is success determined by the extent one can give back to their community?
Answering that question is the first step in financial planner Jeff Larson’s journey to success, and it’s proven to be a winning strategy. Jeff Larson is a financial advisor recognized by AdvisorHub for his passion for giving back to his community. He works with clients to provide comprehensive financial advice and goals-focused strategies and works with his community to represent the underrepresented whenever he can.
Education and Inspiration
Jeff Larson’s career in finance was not the one he dreamed of as a youth, despite his success in it. Instead, he spent his youth preparing for a career in law enforcement, specifically as a S.W.A.T. officer and eventual ATF agent. His other personal goal, parallel to his career, has always been to be a husband, father, and family man. These twin ambitions drove his efforts in high school and college and guided his decision-making.
Despite not being a natural academic, Jeff Larson developed a strategy and pursued it doggedly. He took a heavy load of AP honors classes to get college credits and supplemented it with community college courses in the evening in order to graduate from high school with his associate’s degree in hand and credits ready to transfer. He went on to attend Biola University in southern California, where he graduated in two years majoring in Psychology with a minor in Bible Studies.
Despite working as a dispatch for Campus Safety, completing a heavy course load, and scheduling multiple ride-alongs with local police districts to prepare for his dream job, a career in law enforcement was not in the cards for Jeff Larson. In the midst of a hiring freeze, Larson came to the realization that his career lay elsewhere. He refocused on his ambition to be a family man and looked for careers that could enable that dream.
He found his answer in finance.
Professional Certification and Success
After interning for a financial firm to learn while earning his license, Jeff Larson began running his own practice and building a firm: 25 Financial. Guided by the mentorship of senior financial advisors, he learned to target his practice toward specific niche clientele—in this case, physicians and contract negotiation. Larson recognized that physicians study and train for their specific practice, but often lack the knowledge needed to financially succeed while practicing.
This targeted niche proved to be an exceptional choice. 25 Financial began to scale nationwide as he trained advisors to work alongside physicians for contract negotiations. His clients rarely changed practices after the first 5 years because they were armed with the knowledge needed to enter into their positions with clear, fair terms. With this success, 25 Financial became a comprehensive financial planning firm offering:
- Insurance Review and Planning
- Debt Management Strategies
- Employee Benefits Planning and Analysis
- Investment Planning
- Proactive Tax Strategies
- College, Retirement, and Legacy Planning
- Estate and Asset Protection Planning
25 Financial would eventually expand their financial planning services beyond physicians to include business owners and high-net-worth accredited investors, but physicians would always make up the core of their clientele. In the 12 years since Larson founded it 25 Financial’s annual revenue has grown to over $30 million, clear proof of the value of Jeff Larson’s client-first perspective and goal-setting process.
“I don’t have any revenue or profit goals, and we don’t have any goals to obtain new clients or accounts,” Larson says, “Our only goal is to serve our clients in a way that aligns with our firm’s mission and vision.”
The success of Jeff Larson’s firm would not go unnoticed. In 2022, Arete Wealth, a full-service broker-dealer, registered investment advisor, and insurance firm, announced that seven of its financial advisors were recognized as among the best in the United States. Jeff Larson was named among that number and was specifically spotlighted for his family focus and charitability.
Philosophy of Success
To Jeff Larson, “success” isn’t rigidly defined by single metrics or goals, but by living in accordance with one’s own values and acting toward one’s purpose. This philosophy of success can be seen in how he runs his practice and works with his partners. For Larson specifically and 25 Financial as a whole, success is a process to be lived and explored—both on and off the clock.
“We desire our clients, our team, and our families to enjoy ‘more life’, the 25th hour in the day,” Larson says, “I have the privilege of telling clients to take that extra trip with their family while they are young . . . spend intentional time with your family and friends. Our time here is short, it is a vapor, and there is a balance between being fiscally responsible and letting fear of not having enough rob you of your life today.”
From the beginning, Larson’s strategy has been to identify the life he wants and do exactly what was needed to achieve that, with no desire or pressure to chase the ever-moving goalposts of sole material success. With his client-centric, goal-focused philosophy of success, Jeff Larson guides his clients through the financial decisions necessary for them to do the same.
Giving Back to Family and Community
Jeff Larson’s career has always been in service to his loving family, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t invest heavily in his larger community. Together with his wife and five children, Larson regularly engages with his local community activities and groups. In addition to church, where he and his family work with youth group leaders and weekly ministries, they work with The Pregnancy Center, Joy in the Journey, and Oasis International, among other groups.
Jeff Larson has also dedicated his out-of-office efforts to supporting specific causes, with support given to single and adoptive mothers, as well as organizations working to combat human trafficking. He’s also donated his time and money to fund scholarships for youth camp attendance and works with families in need to develop tailored financial plans. In this way, Larson is able to give back to the community he loves so dearly.
