An impressive show home, styled by John Lewis’ Home Design Service, has opened at Countryside’s Springhead Park development in Ebbsfleet Garden City. One of two show homes offering prospective purchasers the opportunity to experience first-hand the lifestyle available at the development, the Faraday is a three-bedroom property incorporating the latest interior trends and products available from John Lewis.

Part of the UK’s first new garden city for almost 100 years, Springhead Park will provide much needed new homes for this growing community, including two-bedroom coach houses and two, three and four bedroom houses. Built in a combination of traditional and contemporary architecture, the homes are designed to create maximum space, light, comfort and security. Perfectly entwining the best of urban and rural living, the development offers residents excellent travel connections in a beautiful environment.

The Faraday, has been designed with a busy professional couple in mind. Taking the houses’ contemporary architecture for inspiration, Heather Kinner home design stylist at John Lewis Bluewater, chose a restful palette of soft neutrals, sorrel greens and French greys, to decorate the home. Heather combined this with cheerful accents of bold colour and geometric prints to depict the London meets Garden of England feel of the development and bring the home to life.

Heather comments: “At the heart of my interior design was the relationship between city and countryside that you see at Springhead Park. The family that would live here have a young child, and have moved to the edge of the city in search of a calm and tranquil lifestyle, with great transport links to enable them to commute to work. They are looking for a contemporary styled home with a light and airy interior, which enjoys a subtle elegance and is within an affordable budget.

Heather continues: “John Lewis has created a number of interior design collections that are available within our own stores and based on current trends. For this family, I designed the home loosely on a combination of our Croft and House ranges, while incorporating elements of Design Project to inject some best design principles.

I felt that the Croft collection was the right fit for the brief as it champions authenticity and craftsmanship through a palette inspired by natural dyes, creating a subtle homespun softness. The House collection enabled me to bring in the core contemporary elements and colours, while being smart and affordable.”

The Faraday is an impressive three-bedroom home, boasting an open plan kitchen / living / dining area. At the far end of this spacious area, French doors open onto the rear garden, flooding the dining space with natural light. On the first floor, there is a generously sized master bedroom, featuring fitted wardrobes and an en suite. Two further bedrooms and a family bathroom are also located on this floor.

Ebbsfleet Garden City aims to be a commercial centre of national significance, creating over 17 million sq ft of residential, business and community space, as well as an estimated 32,000 new jobs.  It will be served by a range of sustainable facilities and amenities, including the European high speed rail, network, which will identify Ebbsfleet Garden City as a prime destination in the UK for investment, innovation, recreation and leisure.

Residents of Springhead Park will also benefit from being located within minutes of Bluewater, one of the UK’s largest shopping destinations, boasting over 330 shops and 40 restaurants and bars.

Just 20 miles south east of London, Springhead Park is ideally placed for commuters. Kings Cross and St Pancras is just 17 minutes away on the fast train, departing approximately every 15 minutes. The M25 and Dartford Crossing are less than three miles away, providing fast and direct access to London’s motorway network.
