Montreaux To Deliver A Major Regeneration Scheme In Southall
Published On :
Mixed-use developer Montreaux is continuing its expansion with the acquisition of the Middlesex Business Centre in Southall. They now intend to regenerate this underutilised site to deliver a significant number of new homes and commercial floorspace within the borough. Property consultancy GL Hearn acted for Montreaux in the acquisition of the deal.
The new scheme will maximise the site’s development potential due to the improved accessibility and proximity to the SouthallCrossrail station. Once open, in 2019, it will provide easy and frequent access to Heathrow Airport and Central London. In March 2016, a previous outline mixed-use scheme for 1 million sqft was resolved to grant by elected members within the borough.
Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council said: “We’re looking forward to continuing our transformation of Southall by working with Montreaux and other landowners to enable the development of multiple sites in the area. The developments including Middlesex Business Centre will significantly increase jobs and housing supply across Southall. This scheme is a key project driving investment that will contribute to the overall growth of the borough as a great place to live and work.”
Montreaux are now working closely with their consultant team to improve the resolved scheme and deliver a high quality, mixed-use development on the site. Working with adjoining landowners and key stakeholders their vision is to create a new neighbourhood with a variety of new homes including PRS and affordable. The scheme will also include a mix of commercial floorspace including a hotel, ground floor retail, office space, student accommodation and senior living facilities, which are all set around new high quality public realm and an east-west boulevard through the site. The redevelopment will also provide a significant number of local jobs, including in construction, over the next 5-10 years.
David Burke, Chief Executive of Montreaux said: “We are very excited to have a chance to work in Southall. The site is in a highly convenient West London location, with excellent transport links, a strong local economy and workforce. Montreaux is well placed to unlock the potential for a first class mixed-use scheme. With the arrival of Crossrail in 2019 and possible expansion of Heathrow, the redevelopment is well timed and we want the local community to be closely involved in shaping the new neighbourhood so that we enhance what is already great about Southall.”
