New head of underwriting for Atradius Special Products

Trade credit and political risks specialist Gary Geller has been appointed as the new London underwriting team head for the Atradius Special Products Unit.
Mr Geller has over 30 years of experience in trade finance, commodity trading and management of commodity-related projects. He began his career in commodities in New York in 1984 and subsequently spent 17 years with Credit Agricole in successive postings in New York, Paris and Hong Kong where he set up the bank’s commodity financing activity in Asia.
Since then, he has been responsible for investment projects related to oil trading, shipping and logistics in a trading company and lately worked on alternative fundraising strategies for trade finance clients across a variety of sectors. Mr Geller received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Washington D.C. and then a Masters of International Management degree from the American Graduate School of International Management in Arizona.
As a trade credit insurer, Atradius protects customers from the risks of non-payment when trading domestically and overseas. With business intelligence on 200 million companies, Atradius also advises firms on the risks and opportunities of doing business around the globe, enabling them to minimise bad debt. Atradius’ products and services are designed for businesses of all sizes and sectors with its Special Products Unit providing innovative tailored solutions outside the traditional trade credit insurance policy to cover trade, trade financing and political risks. These bespoke policies respond to the evolving economic and geopolitical environment with the Special Products Unit servicing customers worldwide from its offices in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne, New York, Baltimore and Singapore.

Mr Geller will be reporting to Caroline Tran who will take the new role of product leader for the structured single situations and political risks. In parallel, Jesse Van Cleef will take the new role of product leader for Special Products revolving the credit risks business.
