Phillips Nizer Adds Two New Partners, Litigator Craig Penn And Corporate Attorney Carl Kleidman, To New York Office

Penn represents clients in wide range of industries in litigation matters; Kleidman, a former managing partner of a private equity firm, represents investment banks, placement agents and institutional investors in investment activities and formations
Phillips Nizer is pleased to welcome litigator Craig Penn and corporate and business law attorney Carl Kleidman as partners to the firm’s New York office.
Mr. Penn practices state and federal litigation, arbitration, corporate, real estate and licensing, where he assists clients in planning and implementing tailored litigation strategies to successfully resolve challenges the clients may face. He represents clients in a wide range of industries, including publishing, manufacturing, real estate, financial services, advertising, jewelry and construction. Mr. Penn also represents clients in probate and estate litigation in Surrogate’s Court.
He also handles transactional work representing clients in the formation, operation, purchase and sale of businesses.
Mr. Penn joins Phillips Nizer from Penn & Associates LLP. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s office. He received his J.D. from NYU School of Law and his B.A. from SUNY Albany.
Mr. Kleidman, who has worked as an investment banker and managing partner of a private equity fund earlier in his career, counsels clients in connection with Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital fund raising and other corporate matters. His work includes representing investment banks, placement agents and institutional investors, including private equity and venture capital funds, in connection with investment activities and formation.
He has crafted the legal structure for transactions as well as serving as outside counsel to companies on post-acquisition issues.

Mr. Kleidman joins Phillips Nizer from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp. He received his J.D. from Cornell Law School and his B.S. from Syracuse University.
