Rural Bliss Without The Price Tag At Beaumont Green

Newsflash – Two-bedroom end of terrace from just £204,995
Research by the Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) into rural housing has revealed a growing disparity between rural and urban areas, with only 8% of housing stock in countryside regions affordable for local residents, compared to 20% in more built-up regions.
However, bucking this trend, Bellway’s Beaumont Green in the picturesque rural village of Great Blakenham has starter homes from as little as £204,995. Located just a stone’s throw from Ipswich, Beaumont Green provides an idyllic rural lifestyle at a reasonable price, with Bellway offering to pay stamp duty on some selected plots for buyers.
Beaumont Green is a collection of two, three and four bedroom homes in a variety of styles – proving to be popular already. The semi-rural location is suitable for a number of potential purchasers, including first time buyers, families and commuters, who can couple the benefits of countryside living with the facilities offered by a large town, being only five miles from Ipswich and a short distance from Colchester, Bury St. Edmunds and Cambridge.
All the properties at Beaumont Green are finished to a quality specification and include modern design touches, such as open-plan living areas, some integrated appliances and en-suite shower rooms. Externally, all have gardens and come with parking, or garages. The Laurel house-type, a four-bed offering, features an en-suite to the master bedroom, modern family bathroom, open-plan kitchen and dining space, and a separate living room, along with thoughtful design elements such as a large bay window and French doors leading out into the rear garden.
Katie Elliot, who purchased a home at Bellway Green with her partner and child, comments:
“After securing our house off-plan we would drive down to Beaumont Green almost every week to watch the progress, which was so exciting. Now we are here, I see other lucky home buyers doing exactly the same. I really love having the activity around us during the day, on my days off. I have recommended this development to lots of my friends and family, it’s just lovely and the quality and finish of my new home is amazing.”
Several well-regarded schools can be found in the local area making it popular for families. Indeed Colchester Royal Grammar School and Colchester County High School for Girls are regularly voted two of the best schools in the country and both are around 20 miles from Beaumont Green.
The rural location does not mean inconvenience either – there is a superstore just five minutes’ drive from the development, along with a number of other retail park offerings. Heading into Ipswich, the Sailmakers and Buttermarket shopping centres provide a variety of chain and independent stores, as well as cafes and restaurants. The recently redeveloped waterfront area, with its fashionable bars and restaurants, is a popular destination for locals and visitors, as is The Saints – St Peters Street and St Nicholas Street – which is known for its boutique and specialist retailers, as well as its vintage and craft market.
Leisure facilities nearby include a recreation ground and children’s play area in Great Blakenham, the 250-acre Orwell Country Park, and Christchurch Park. Whitton Sports and Community Centre offers a gym and fitness classes for active residents, whilst Crown Pools in Ipswich has three different swimming pools to make a fun day out for everyone. The New Wolsey Theatre, the Regent Theatre and the Corn Exchange – all in the centre of town – stage a mixture of drama, family shows, dance, live music and comedy.
Ipswich train station can be reached in less than 20 minutes by car and from there regular rail services run to Norwich, Peterborough, Colchester, Chelmsford and London Liverpool Street. Stansted Airport is around an hour’s drive away via the A12 and the A120.
