With the average daily commute in England now taking at least two hours per round trip, good transport connections are a must for home buyers. As revealed in a recent study by the University of West England, the recent increase from an average of 48 minutes, to an hour per trip, is having a negative impact on job and leisure time satisfaction[1]. Giving professionals a quick and stress-free journey to and from work, Bellway Homes’ The Residence in Nine Elms is ideally located, to save more minutes in the morning and free up time for leisure pursuits at home time.

The extension of London Underground’s Northern Line offers two new stations including one at Nine Elms, a moments’ walk from The Residence, and at Battersea Power Station, set to improve travel into central, north and south London. Last week the tunnels were complete as Transport for London announced it had broken through at Kennington. Targeted for completion in 2020, estimated journey times from Nine Elms to the City are as short as 12 minutes, and eight minutes for Westminster, which is great news for purchasers looking for a home that gives them more precious time back in their day.

The Residence, with apartments available to buy off-plan now, offers a selection of contemporary one, two and three-bedroom apartments at Nine Elms. The homes include a modern interior design with open-plan living space, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a private balcony or terrace. Kitchens feature high quality appliances and Silestone worktops, and bathrooms include spa-like fittings, matching the grand feel of a five-star hotel. Two and three-bedroom apartments benefit from en suite bathrooms for the master bedroom and all residents will also have the luxury of a media lounge, a spacious on-site gym, a 24-hour concierge service and a meeting suite.

Emma Denton, Sales Director Designate at Bellway Thames Gateway, comments: “For those wanting to cut the commute and have more free time to spend on leisure pursuits, The Residence offers a perfect base. Commuters and professionals who work in and around the capital can take the opportunity to experience luxury living in Zone 1 and will also have the use of an on-site gym, an art gallery and nearby shopping areas, to experience the vibrant culture of London for both work and play. We encourage potential purchasers to visit our show apartments, and see the quality of these homes first-hand.”

The apartments include a picturesque view over the River Thames and what will become the surrounding public parks and piazzas. Residents will also have views of the new American embassy, due for completion early 2018. The US building follows a crystalline cube design surrounded by green public space and a semi-circular mount stretching around one side. The area’s transformation has a major focus on outdoor shopping areas and parades, enhancing existing stores in the locality. In addition, Nine Elms will also benefit from pavement cafés, restaurants, event space, hotels, galleries and public art.

The nearest current tube station is Vauxhall Underground Station for the Victoria Line, less than a 15 minute-walk from the development. The closest railway station is Vauxhall, approximately 15 minutes away offering journeys into London or out to Surrey and beyond. Other transport opportunities from this development include the Riverboat from Westminster pier, bus routes and taxis.
